Gingivitis is the most common type of gum disease that starts with swollen red gums, which may show little to no symptoms. Fortunately, gingivitis can be easily treated and is even easier to prevent if a patient observes proper overall oral care.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Silent disease<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The problem with periodontitis is, signs and symptoms of the condition during its early stage may not show. When they do, it is often during the advanced stage already\u2014and this is one of the reasons why people are encouraged to schedule routine appointments. The earlier this condition is caught, the easier the treatment will be, unlike when it has already progressed into the later stages.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>It is contagious<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Believe it or not, periodontitis can actually spread from one person to another. Although this possibility is rare, the chances of passing the disease are high if the receiving person is susceptible. For instance, studies are showing that eating dairy products can help strengthen teeth, preventing periodontitis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>A common cause of bad breath<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Contrary to what most people think, bad breath is not always caused by not brushing the teeth or after eating a pungent meal. While these are some of the most causes, one of the leading factors of bad breath is actually periodontitis.
